Since its introduction in 1931, this twin-engine monowing flying boat has acquired a distinguished reputation, serving as the official Presidential Aircraft for President Roosevelt, as well as being sold to such worthies as the Vanderbilt family. Aside from private sales, the Dolphin has enjoyed commercial success as an airliner, and has also been sold to the US Army and US Navy for use as transport and search and rescue craft. A pilot and co-pilot form the crew.

The Parasol provides private aviation for the masses by virtue of its affordability and simplicity of construction and maintenance. A single-man open cockpit parasol wing monoplane, its relatively mediocre engine provides a limited power, but this has not deterred buyers, and well over 1,000 self-assembly kits have been sold since 1932.

It has also been sold to airline operators in Denmark, France, Hungary, and Switzerland. Unfortunately, despite its general reliability and widespread use, it has been banned from commercial flights in the USA following the tragic crash of TWA Flight 599 in 1931, responsible for the widely publicized death of Knute Rockne, the head football coach at the University of Notre Dame.
